Stunt Gurl!

Stunt Gurl!

My brother, fondly called ‘Baiyya’ and who is elder to me by 8 years, is and has been my pillar of strength and support. Our childhood days were full of pranks, mischief and fights. (Obviously sourced from one side and directed at me!!) He had to be responsible for me, having to be my nanny many-a-times! Now, this unescapable duty made him so opportunist that he treated me as his guinea pig for his dare devil stunts! Once, he gave me the scare of my life! When I was all of 4 or 5, he affectionately took me in his arms and held me upside down, clutching my ankles out of the 2nd floor staircase! I screamed so loud that my lungs would have blown out that day! Phew!! He must have definitely proved his machismo but I can never forget the day a kid performed a ‘forcible stunt’!

Wow! The memories of childhood are ever so wonderful. My brother was a constant support and with whom I shared all my joys, complaints, heart breaks and excitement. I still remember when as a kid, I had to put painstaking efforts to gobble up the spelling of ‘together’. Now, Dad, who generally helped me with my studies, couldn’t understand why his daughter was being so dyslexic! After all, ‘together’ was not that hard to spell. Now, someone ask a six year old… Anyhow, he was getting angrier by every passing second… I just couldn’t manage to learn it. Now Daddy’s facial expressions started changing… I was about to pee in my dress…when Bhaiya, my saviour rescued me. Daddy and I were facing each other and Bhaiya was behind Dad- gesturing the break-up spelling technique of together as ‘to- get- her’!

I haven’t forgotten the spelling ever since.
